Want To Be Unhappy? Act Like Liberals

John Hawkins gives us five reasons why Conservatives tend to be happier than Liberals:
Liberals spend a lot of time playing the victim and trying to come up with ways to get someone else to fix their lives. "Well, if the government forced some rich guy to give me more of his money, then all my problems would be solved! If our society could just make this change, then we could all dance in the moonlight with faeries and unicorns! If the government just added one more program, then we could teach the world to sing in perfect harmony, hold it in our arms, and keep it company!"

One of the biggest keys to happiness is accepting that if you want to be happy, you need to take personal responsibility for everything in your life so you can do something about it. On the other hand, you want to be unhappy? Act like liberals and expect other people to show up and fix your problems.
Truer words have never been spoken. Just look at all those professional victim groups that are stuck at the bottom despite all those aid agencies with their multi-billion-dollar budgets. Personal responsibility, family values and common sense - these are the keys to success and happiness.

The nanny state has no business legislating programs dictating to people how to live their lives. Unless, of course, those programs involve middle aged men ordering and sanctioning what teenage girls do with their bodies and the fetuses that sometimes end up in them.

Nobody actually sanctions what teenage girls do with their bodies. Typically, they make those decisions on their own. (How else would those fetuses as you call them "end up" there? They don't just materialize out of thin air, do they?) But a freedom to make decisions over one's own body should not involve destruction of someone else's body.

Yes, it may surprise you, but a baby in the womb - that's not a part of woman's body. It's a separate body, with its own unique DNA and with a beating heart. Once this body comes into being - it deserves the same protection as you and me. That a baby is an inconvenience to his mother doesn't mean the mother should have the right to just go and have the baby destroyed while he's still too small to be officially counted as a citizen.

P.S. And sure, Heather Stilwell, Cheryl Gallant, Denise Mountenay, Elsie Wayne, Gwen Landolf and so many other women that lead the pro-life movement are all "middle aged men".

I am not a legislator, but I guess as a woman who is pro-life, I would be a middle-aged man, too.
