Yes, the scientific debate over "global warming" is nearing end, but not the way Al Gore and other warm-mongers see it. Check out this
Financial Post article by Lawrence Solomon:
The science is now all-but-settled on global warming, convincing new evidence demonstrates, but Al Gore, the IPCC and other global warming doomsayers won’t be celebrating. The new findings point to cosmic rays and the sun — not human activities — as the dominant controller of climate on Earth.
The research, published with little fanfare this week in the prestigious journal Nature, comes from über-prestigious CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, one of the world’s largest centres for scientific research involving 60 countries and 8,000 scientists at more than 600 universities and national laboratories. CERN is the organization that invented the World Wide Web, that built the multi-billion dollar Large Hadron Collider, and that has now built a pristinely clean stainless steel chamber that precisely recreated the Earth’s atmosphere.
In this chamber, 63 CERN scientists from 17 European and American institutes have done what global warming doomsayers said could never be done — demonstrate that cosmic rays promote the formation of molecules that in Earth’s atmosphere can grow and seed clouds, the cloudier and thus cooler it will be. Because the sun’s magnetic field controls how many cosmic rays reach Earth’s atmosphere (the stronger the sun’s magnetic field, the more it shields Earth from incoming cosmic rays from space), the sun determines the temperature on Earth.
So the science is getting settled - but who said that all those envirofascists out there are actually interested in science and scientific facts? For them it's all about money and power.
But the scientific establishment is working hard to suppress the findings. That’s why you probably haven’t heard of this research, which was first published a week ago today. If it had been an apocalyptic prediction from Al Gore’s hymnal, it would have been front-page news.
Of course. Nobody likes conceding defeat. Especially when so many research grants, so much money from carbon taxes, markets, credits and so many opportunities for power grab under the guise of "saving the planet" are at stake...
ugh. The story is so wrong, it is embarassing to see it repeated.
ReplyDeleteHere is the background on the actual study, if you care to learn:
http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/badastronomy/2011/08/31/no-a-new-study-does-not-show-cosmic-rays-are-connected-to-global-warming/
Check out Crispin Tickell, he's the man who invented the Climate Change con back in the '70s.
ReplyDeleteSure, it's not cosmic rays, it's clouds and greenhouse gases... Then of course one would ask how come we have similar "global warming / climate change" on Mars, not to mention Neptune, but that's probably because those martians and neptunians keep driving SUVs, refused to pay carbon taxes and kept having children in spite of their high "carbon footprint".
ReplyDeleteThat response is suspiciously close to a Gish Gallop, Leonard.
ReplyDeleteBefore you change topics (by the way, the mars thing is well explained here), why not address the original point? That being the FP article which falsely represented the results of the study it quotes.
So far - it's the article I quoted that I find far more credible than the rebuttal you suggested. Same with the link you posted to counter the "Mars thing" - knowing how prominent "global warming" twisted the climate data to suit their theories, an assertion that "the correlation between sun and climate ended in the 70's" sure lacks credibility.
