Legalizing Abortion Does Not Reduce Maternal Mortality

Facts are stubborn things:
New York City, N.Y., Feb 28, 2011 / 03:49 pm (CNA).- Chile, a country that does not allow abortion, recently received the International Protect Life Award for being the country with the lowest maternal mortality rate in Latin America.
...
A spokesman for the pro-life leaders, Dan Ziedler spoke with CNA on Feb. 25, saying, “It should be noted abortion is not allowed in Chile under any circumstances. Chile respects the life of both the mother and the child, the two are equal under the law.”

“I think we should praise this judicial system and acknowledge that the claim by many abortion supporters – that the practice must be legalized in order for maternal mortality to decrease – is not true,” Ziedler said.
So who should be accused of employing "deceptive practices"? The Crisis Pregnancy Centers, that provide women with information about alternatives to abortion, or the abortion mills, that often have "women's health" or "reproductive health" in their name, yet promote practices that result in more maternal deaths?

It's Time To Cut Spending

There are no more excuses for runaway spending. Moreover - with the election campaign to take place next fall at the latest, the Conservatives better get the books in order:
Budget cuts are unavoidable -now or in the future -because the current Tory budget plan is a mirage. The federal budget will return to balance within the next five years under the Conservatives only if the Harper government manages to hold its spending increases to 1.8 per cent annually and find revenue increases of 5.6 per cent a year.

Almost no one in the real world expects that to happen. Prior to the start of the recession in the fall of 2008, the supposedly fiscally responsible Tories were increasing federal spending by an average of 5.5 per cent a year.

In the years since the Tories replaced the Liberals in February 2006, program spending has risen 40 per cent.
It's time the government stops making the same budget mistakes the government of Brian Mulroney made in the late 1980s and early 1990s. After all - they know how the latter ended up.

Crisis Pregnancy Center Success Story: 4 Babies Saved In One Week

Just a beautiful story:
TORONTO, Ontario, February 24, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The dedicated staff at the Toronto-based crisis pregnancy center, Aid to Women, experienced a successful week this week after three women going to the nearby abortion facility (one who was pregnant with twins) experienced a change of heart after conversing with Aid to Women staff.

One woman, after discovering from the abortionist that she was pregnant with twins, left the abortion facility crying, telling Aid to Women workers, “I couldn’t do it.”

Aid to Women is a Christian, volunteer-based charity, located in the immediate vicinity of Cabbagetown Women’s abortion facility in Toronto. Since 1984, they have reached out with love and compassion, encouraging and supporting pregnant mothers in all their needs.
Crisis pregnancy centers change hearts and save lives. No wonder the pro-aborts are so eager to shut them down.

What Else Will They Declare A "Sexual Orientation"?

First they claim that those experiencing unnatural attraction to their own gender can't change that (in spite of many evidences to the contrary) and declare this perversion "a sexual orientation" that ought to be accommodated at all costs. Then, the same accommodation was extended to those who believe that surgery and hormone therapy could turn a man into a woman and the other way around.

Just recently, the three opposition parties (along with a few social perverts in the Conservative ranks) joined forces to legislate similar protections for those who merely think they are "trapped in the body of the wrong sex", so if the Senate caves in - there will be no legal grounds left to keep a male pervert wearing a dress out of the ladies' room. But that apparently is not enough. Now, we have a retired professor declaring pedophilia a "sexual orientation" in his speech to the House Justice Committee and arguing (using false analogies) that it should be viewed the same way as the normal man-woman relationships.
Mr. Marc Lemay (Abitibi—Témiscamingue, BQ): ... I am concerned, Professor Van Gijseghem—and I know you well as I have heard you testify on a number of other subjects—because you say, if I am not mistaken, that pedophilia is a sexual orientation.

Dr. Hubert Van Gijseghem: That is what I said.

Mr. Marc Lemay: Should it therefore be compared to homosexuality?

Dr. Hubert Van Gijseghem: Yes, or heterosexuality. If, for instance, you were living in a society where heterosexuality is proscribed or prohibited and you were told that you had to get therapy to change your sexual orientation, you would probably say that that is slightly crazy. In other words, you would not accept that at all.

I use this analogy to say that, yes indeed, pedophiles do not change their sexual orientation.
It's not the first time sexual deviants and their supporters use this "imagine if the world was gay" analogy. Without mentioning that even if such a world could ever materialize - it just wouldn't last. But Van Gijseghem's "spherical gay society in a vacuum" analogy, which he uses to prove not so much that pedophiles can't change, but that they shouldn't even be compelled to, poses a serious challenge to his opponent, Marc Lemay.

As a Block MP, Mr. Lemay must adhere to his party's anti-family ideology; he begins his response by distancing himself from those who consider homosexuality to be an illness, by reaffirming that it's now accepted, accepted, accepted... But when it comes to accepting pedophilia as a "sexual orientation", he just... just can't... can't imagine... What's that, comrade Lemay? Do I sense some of what your fellow "progressives" call intolerance and bigotry? Haven't received enough doublethink training on this particular subject? You better shape up unless you want to end up just like Bev Desjarlais or Louise Thibault.
I predict they will accept pedophilia. Maybe not now. But give it twenty years. There's a reason nobody in the artistic world gives a damn about Roman Polanski's crime against a 13-year-old. That kind of laissez-faire morality is chic. Getting a moral high horse about anything sexual would ruin their self-image.
Don't be surprised if they start telling us that calling them "pedophiles" is diminutive and we should use something like "ageism-free" or "age-diversed" or any other politically correct term that would portray child molesters as poor misunderstood victims of the society's prejudices.

Pro-Life U of C Students Go To Court For Their Rights

The university resorted to various forms of abuse in their attempt to suppress U of C pro-lifers. The students have no choice but to ask the court to intervene.
Carleton Lifeline, the pro-life club at Carleton University, has sued the University and its administration for the discriminatory treatment they have been subjected to during the 2010-2011 academic school year.

“We believe that the behaviour of the University is actionable. We have suffered discrimination and intimidation, we have been arrested and threatened and we are seeking restitution”, said Ruth Lobo, President of Carleton Lifeline. “The University’s discriminatory actions are shocking, to say the least. We want to ensure, through law, that this behaviour is not repeated at Carleton University ever again.”

Lifeline is asking the Court to declare that Carleton University and its administration have breached their own internal policies regarding freedom of expression, academic freedom and discrimination. As such, Lifeline is also requesting that the University is ordered to comply with these internal policies.
Full statement of claim is available at Carleton Lifeline blog.

If The Doctors Want You Dead...

...Resistance is futile? Hospital officials now say that they may go ahead with removing baby Joseph's life support even if another hospital agrees to a transfer.
LONDON, Ontario, February 22, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - While things were looking up for the parents of Joseph Maraachli this past weekend, the picture has now become bleaker. In the latest twist in the case the London hospital where their dying son is being cared for is seeking to remove the parents’ decision-making power after they refused to have him taken off life support. Hospital security is also denying them private visitations.

Alex Schadenberg, executive director of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, which has been offering support to the parents, Moe Maraachli and Sana Nader, says they are now only allowed to see their son with a security guard present.

“They fight my family. ... they put security for me. They never give me private to pray with my son,” Moe told Fox News this afternoon.
So what do they have against the poor baby and his parents anyway? They wanted to get rid of him - they got it, another hospital has agreed to take the baby. So why can't they just leave him alone? Why are they so eager to take him off life support?

Apparently what angers them is that there's someone out there who dares to question their opinion. They think they know best; so if they are convinced that baby Joseph's life is not worthy of preserving and that his parents would be better off without him - they're willing to go as far as deliberately causing the baby's death to prove their point.

Shame on them.

Breaking: Court Ordered Euthanasia Stayed

Baby Joseph Maraachli may be given another chance:
LONDON, Ontario, February 17, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - One-year-old Joseph Maraachli of Windsor, Ontario, who was to have his life support removed Monday at 10 am. against his parents’ wishes, will now not die on the day that Ontario residents celebrate as Family Day. A hustle by pro-life and anti-euthanasia groups resulted in a change in legal counsel, which has led to at least a temporary stay of removal of the child’s ventilator.

Alex Schadenberg, head of the Euthanasia Prevention Coalition, informed LifeSiteNews Sunday evening that negotiations are underway to transfer Joseph to a hospital in Michigan.
Yes, baby Joseph has a terminal condition. That however is still not the reason to treat him as a write-off that better be killed so that his bed could be used by someone else. It's a shame that some of our hospitals have adopted such a contemptuous attitude towards human life. And it's a shame that the baby has to be taken out of country, just so he could... stay alive for whatever few months he has left.

Who Funds Canada's Environmentalists?

Where does the Ottawa lobbyist Rick Smith gets the money to hire a team of activists to wage an over-funded campaign against the federal environment minister Peter Kent? Ezra Levant looks into it, in his Toronto Sun column:
A long-time Ottawa lobbyist named Rick Smith is boasting he will make unsolicited phone calls to 50,000 homes in Kent's neighbourhood, because Kent said Canadian oil is more ethical than oil from OPEC countries like Saudi Arabia or Iran. Smith's paid staff won't just be making phone calls. They say they'll be "on the ground" in Thornhill for months.

Many observers expect an election to be called next month. Kent, and his Liberal and New Democrat competitors, have to recruit volunteers to knock on doors and make phone calls -- it's the only way to stay within their legal budget.

Not Smith's paid army. He won't have to stay within a spending limit, or disclose who gave him money, or what he's spending it on.
...
Because no fewer than six high-priced U.S. donors give money to Smith's lobby firm. The Mott Foundation from Flint, Mich., is one of them. Its website says an average donation from them is $100,000.

Even if Kent were able to raise that much money, it would be illegal for him to spend it.
...
He promised big prizes -- including an iPad and iTunes gift certificates. When you need to give away prizes to people to write letters, that’s not grassroots support. That's Astroturf.

Imagine the outrage if Kent offered iPads -- starting at $549 each -- for people to write supportive letters to the editor. It wouldn't just look tricky. It would look desperate. Who has to buy support?
There is a law that prohibits this kind of lobbying during the election campaign. But up until then, such actions are apparently legal. However if Smith and his team actually start annoying the people in Kent's riding with unsolicited phone calls, without an election having even been called, that could actually result in a completely different shift in public opinion, than the one those lobbyists look forward for.

Court Rules Baby’s Life Support Removed Against Parents’ Wishes

Death by euthanasia - that appears to be the new reality in Canada. Capital punishment for criminals has been long abolished. Yet the courts don't mind handing out death sentences for innocent people, for the elderly, the handicapped and the babies, whose lives they find unworthy of living:
LONDON, Ontario, February 17, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) - One-year-old Joseph Maraachli of Windsor, Ontario will have his life support removed Monday at 10 am. after the Ontario Superior Court today rejected an appeal by the parents to bring him home where he can die under their care.

A leading anti-euthanasia advocate says the decision facilitates a system where doctors are authorized to force life and death decisions on patients, warning that this is, in fact, far worse than the “death panels” recently debated in the U.S. as part of the federal health care law.

“Monday at 10 am they will kill my baby,” Moe Maraachli, Joseph’s father, told LifeSiteNews shortly after the ruling. “There’s no more humanity. There’s no more chance. I’ve tried everything for him. No more appeals, nothing.”

“I asked them: why not send him to Windsor and let him die at home?” he continued. “They said they will give him injection, but I don’t want to.”

“I ask God, and maybe he breathe,” he added.
Interestingly enough, the hospital refuses to perform a tracheotomy, because they find it "risky" but they see nothing wrong (or risky) with just removing the baby's life support. Not to mention the lethal injection. This growing contempt to human life, that started with legal abortion over 40 years ago and that has evolved into a court-ordered euthanasia, sickens our healthcare system to far greater extent than shortage of doctors, nurses or funding.

Video: Real Catholic TV On The Raymond Gravel Lawsuit

A few strong words on the heretical priest that sues the pro-life news outlet for being critical of him: Now it's time for the bishops to have their say. They've turned a blind eye on Gravel for far too long, so they better say anything unless they want to lose what's left of their credibility.
If Gravel goes undisciplined, the Canadian Church will have signalled that it is quite permissible that one of its ordained ministers, under obedience to Her bishops, is permitted to make such a baseless and gratuitous attack against Christ’s Faithful who are defending human life. Fr. Gravel is not simply attacking LSN. He is attacking all Faithful Catholics who are loyal to the Church’s magisterium, not to mention the unborn.
Long story short: what he said.

Is Multi-Cult Going Out Of Fashion?

I guess it would be way too optimistic to assert that the world is saying no to multiculturalism, as Werner Patels suggests in his blog post, but the fact that more heads of state begin questioning multi-cult is definitely - a positive development:
We all want to see successful immigrants, that is, those who learn the language of the land, obey local laws and manage to fit in. Those are the ones that the host country, such as Canada, can benefit from – and quite handsomely, too, because they’re the ones who tend to go much further than native-born Canadians, because they’re more motivated, more driven, and often also more resourceful (just take someone like Frank Stronach as an example).

But the kind of multiculturalism, cooked up and imposed on Canada by Pierre Trudeau, in a self-hating attempt to wipe out the francophone identity of this country, has caused Canada nothing but trouble … and lots of tax dollars.

There’s nothing wrong with the American “melting pot”, which requires the full integration and assimilation of newcomers. In fact, it’s the only way to ensure the success of immigrants. Anything else will only result in ethnic ghettos, crime and tons of social friction.
That's common sense, isn't it? But there are way too many - politicians, public servants, community organizers, that are actually interested in more failed immigrants.

After all - if immigrants are successful - who is going to need professional defenders of their rights? If those admitted to Canada are skilled enough to easily integrate in the job market - who is going to need affirmative actions? If the whole industry of "multiculturalism" is scrapped, if there's no more need for specialists in organizing all sorts of "multicultural days" and whatever culture months, what's going to happen to tens of thousands of high paid nobodies that are incapable of doing any productive work? Not to mention all the government funding (some $10Billion or so) that they'll lose. That's why we have so many of them trying to suppress the reasonable debate by portraying those who oppose multi-cult as racists.

Breaking: Controversial Priest Wants To Bankrupt Life Site News

Former MP Raymond Gravel wants the best of both worlds, trying to be a socially "progressive" radical a Catholic priest at the same time. And he is quite upset when others are critical of his efforts to use priesthood to promote views and behaviors that are in direct conflict with the Church's teaching. He thinks that his critics are way too hard for him. And, to teach them a lesson, he sues Life Site News for libel, demanding $500,000 (their entire annual budget) in damages.
Even though LifeSiteNews reports have overwhelmingly reported on what Fr. Gravel himself has publicly said, he is suing us for libel. Among other things, he argues that he isn’t pro-abortion, but he has said in the past that he is “pro-choice.”

He’s demanding $500,000 in damages
...
The very fact that Fr. Gravel feels he has to sue LSN is proof-positive of just how much LSN is needed. Writing about LifeSiteNews.com in Le Devoir on April 20, 2009, Fr. Gravel said that when his bishop received a letter from the Vatican “which forced me to retire from political life,” attached to the letter “was a file almost exclusively in English made up of negative comments about me … which came from those ultra-conservative media.” He even complained about LifeSiteNews during a speech on the floor of the House of Commons!

And then, more recently, Fr. Gravel was removed from a position as a chief catechist for his diocese. In his motion Fr. Gravel suggests that the articles by LSN caused him to lose this responsibility.
Well, when someone declares in a radio interview that he supports abortion and that "there is not a bishop on earth that will prevent him from receiving Communion, not even the Pope", he shouldn't be surprised that concerned Catholics find him somewhat unfit to teach the Catechism. As for his claims that he is not pro-abortion, but "pro-choice" - didn't he oppose bill to protect women's choice to keep their wanted unborn babies? If he believes that "choice" only refers to one's decision to have an abortion - then there's nothing libelous in calling him "pro-abortion".

Oh well, at least it's not a "human rights" complaint, but a law suit. So, at least, in this case, the standard rules of evidence do apply - and so is the presumption of innocence until proven guilty. Maybe even, this law suit, is just what is needed to have this Gravel finally thrown out of priesthood. But in the meantime, Life Site News needs funds to defend themselves against his ridiculous accusations. So please consider helping them in this struggle.

"When A Man Loves A Woman, He Has To Become Worthy Of Her."

Something important to remember this Valentine's day:
To a great extent the level of any civilization is the level of its womanhood. When a man loves a woman, he has to become worthy of her. The higher her virtue, the more her character, the more devoted she is to truth, justice, goodness, the more a man has to aspire to be worthy of her. The history of civilization could actually be written in terms of the level of its women."
And here's another important message for the men - by John Pacheco:
If you want to know why radical feminism has taken hold in our culture, you don’t need to understand complex movements or patholigies. You need look no further then my 10 year-old’s note to me…and the absence of its message in families.

Husbands and fathers!

Be true to your wives and do not let your hearts wander. Marriage is a sacrament and a vow. Stay true to your word. Sacrifice for them and place them on the pedastal that they deserve. Never forget that they are your helpmates and not your servants.
What they said. Happy Valentine's day everyone!

Marriage - Avoid Misuse

Yes, there are boundaries to sexual acts from a moral perspective within marriage. When it comes to marriage, the unitive and the procreative aspects are equally important:
Sexuality becomes truly human when it is integrated into the total relationship of one person to another, in the complete and lifelong mutual gift of a man and a woman. Pope John Paul II wrote: “Only the chaste man and the chaste woman are capable of true love.” This means that married people are also called to be chaste if they are to truly love each other.

Married people living chastely can have vibrant sex lives. In the relationship between a man and a woman, chastity helps them love each other as persons rather than make each other an object of pleasure or satisfaction. Despite what the media and Hollywood suggest, the value of sexual intercourse does not lie in recreation, or physical gratification.
It's a pity there's no direct link to the letter itself, only a few quotes. But even those quotes make a strong point. Here's another essay on the real meaning of sex:
Many people have the impression that the Catholic Church thinks sex is bad. This belief may have been reinforced by some over-reactions by members of the Church to the abuses of sexuality that have occurred in the last 50 years. However, the Church actually teaches that sexual union, when properly understood, is very good. It is sacred, beautiful and glorious!
...
Every human being has an inner urge to love and to be loved. God created us that way. This urge can only be entirely fulfilled by union with God. During our life on earth, this urge leads us naturally to marriage and to sexual union with our spouse, which is meant to be a foreshadowing of the ultimate union with God in eternity. However, although marriage is beautiful and holy, the couple must realize that they are not the ultimate fulfilment for each other. Only God can fully satisfy the deepest longings of the human heart.
...
When considering whether a particular sexual act is morally correct or not, Christians only need to ask themselves: Would this act be a reflection of God’s free, total, faithful, and fruitful love? “Masturbation, fornication, adultery, intentionally sterilized sex, homosexual acts, etc. – none of these image God’s free, total, faithful, and fruitful love. None of these behaviors express and renew wedding vows. They aren’t marital. Does this mean people who behave in such ways are ‘inherently evil?’ No. They’re just confused about how to satisfy their genuine desires for love.” (1)

It is also important to note that marriage is not a license that makes all sexual behavior acceptable. Not all instances of sexual intercourse between a married couple are truly “marital” in the sense of imaging God’s love. A married couple can still fall into the deception of lust and use each other for their personal gratification. This would not be authentic marital love. The same could be said of the use of contraception. As bluntly explained by Christopher West: “When a couple uses contraception, the spouses are really saying that they prefer the momentary pleasure of a sterilized orgasm over the possibility of participating in the inner life of the Trinity” (2).
Sure, many are not going to like this kind of message. But let's face it - these principles make a lot more sense that the idea that sex is all about pleasure - for oneself first and only then - for the partner.

Green Energy Policy - Blackouts And Brownouts

Luckily, we have a government that doesn't rush with forcing unrealistic "green energy" quotas. In the US under Obama, it's a different story:
Fury is building over rolling nationwide blackouts triggered by the Obama administration’s deliberate agenda to block the construction of new coal-fired plants, as local energy companies struggle to meet Americans’ power demands amidst some of the coldest weather seen in decades.

- As we reported yesterday, four hospitals in Texas reacted furiously after they were hit with planned outages despite being promised they would be spared even as power to Super Bowl venues remains uninterrupted.

- Thousands in New Mexico have been left without natural gas as Gov. Susana Martinez on Thursday declared a state of emergency. “Due to statewide natural gas shortages, I have ordered all government agencies that do not provide essential services to shut down and all nonessential employees to stay home” on Friday, Martinez said after meeting with public safety personnel in Albuquerque,” reports the Associated Press.
Talking about green energy, which do you think kills more birds - oil sands or wind turbines? Check out this video and you'll be astonished, how many birds we'd be killing if we want to get as much energy from wind that as we do from the oil sands:
700,000 birds a year - that would be a remarkable sacrifice to "mother gaia", wouldn't it?

Sharia - A Blessing?!

It would be funny if the guy who suggested that didn't have a Canadian passport:
"If sharia law becomes the order of the day, Canada will be truly blessed"
Those exact words just came out of the mouth of Imam Steve Rockwell on AM640. The imam was arguing in favour of "multiculturalism" (the Trojan horse that abets the sharia agenda he articulated above).
Truly blessed? Are you sure? Blazing Cat Fur has a few examples on what kind of a blessing it is. Obviously, it's a blessing we can do without. After all - if a country under "sharia" is "truly blessed" - how come millions of Muslims every year flee these countries and seek asylum in the Western world? How come all those people fail to understand how "blessed" their home countries are? There's something fishy about the way these guys see blessing. Or paradise...
A Muslim guy exploded himself in a crowded place. Proud of himself, he appeared at the Pearly Gates and demanded his 72 virgins. Immediately, he was escorted to a comfortable cabin where he found the virgins waiting. He didn't have any problems with the first one. After the second one he felt a little tired. With the third virgin, it was more pain than pleasure. The fourth left him completely exhausted. Then came the fifth - if he hadn't been dead already, that would have killed then. And then, as soon as he was done with the fifth virgin, came the sixth one...

With his last strength, he stormed out of the cabin and appealed to the creatures outside to stop the ordeal.

"What's wrong?" they asked him. "You've got everything you asked for. Here are your 72 virgins, just the way the koran promised. Didn't you want them so bad that you went as far as killing yourself among with a dozen of innocent by-standers to get them?"

"Yes, but I can't handle them all at once" the guy cried.

"Well, you gonna have to" they replied. "You've got 67 virgins that you haven't even touched, and the first five - they're back at the end of the queue, waiting their turn..."

"What?!" the guy exclaimed. "If that's what Muslim heaven is like, then I'd rather go to Christian hell!"

"Well, where do you think you've been so far?"
It's a joke, but just like every joke, it has a grain of truth. What radical Muslims promote as the only true way of life brings nothing but tyranny, poverty and devastation. What they call paradise on earth tends to look more like a living hell. The "sharia" blessing is nothing but a curse.

Bill C-389 Will Lessen Equality

When some are more equal than others (by Brian Lilley):
In fact Bill C-389 will lessen equality. I’ve spoken against this bill before and reprint my column from November below to do so again.

C-389 is about adding transgendered to the list of protected groups. This is wrong.

We should have no protected groups. Either we believe in equality or we don’t.
...
In 2008, the Liberals promised in their campaign platform, “an amendment to the Criminal Code to include ‘gender’ in the hate propaganda provisions to help end societal acceptance for those who would incite hatred against women.”

It was revealed this past summer that the federal government was setting aside jobs for certain groups.

Some jobs were only open to aboriginals, some only to visible minorities, and some to women or the disabled. The government reviewed the process and declared while preference could be given to the protected groups no one should be denied the chance to apply for a job based on their race or gender.

Hiring, the government said, should be based on merit.

For some reason, the government has been accused of racism for advocating that everyone should be treated the same.
Common sense? Try explaining that not just to the lefties in the opposition, but even to some that turned out to be way too "progressive" Conservatives. Shelly Glover, Gerald Keddy, Lisa Raitt, Lawrence Cannon, John Baird, James Moore - here are those social perverts on the Conservative ranks, for whom homosexualist ideology matters more than the rights of ordinary Canadians, their security and their privacy.

Now, we can only hope that the bill gets stuck in the Senate until the next election is called. Considering that on the same sitting the three opposition parties voted with the Liberals against the upcoming business tax reductions (those scheduled to take effect next year,) this may not be too difficult a task.

Ohio Seeks Protection For The Beating Heart

Great initiative by Ohio state legislators:
COLUMBUS, Ohio, February 8, 2011 (LifeSiteNews.com) – A new bill being proposed in the Ohio General Assembly would ban all abortion as soon as an unborn baby’s heartbeat is detected.

State Rep. Lynn Wachtmann (R-75th) will unveil the new “Heartbeat Bill” on Wednesday. The measure that would challenge Roe v. Wade by establishing an unborn child’s beating heart as the criterion for legal protection in Ohio.
...
An unborn child’s heartbeat is generally accepted as beating by 18-24 days after conception.
Even if the bill fails, its message will be clear: abortion stops a beating heart. Yes, it's as simple as that.

"Bathroom Bill" Again

The second hour of debate was advanced to today's sitting, with the final vote expected on February 9. Unfortunately, with the support of some socially twisted folks on the Conservative caucus, the bill is likely to pass the third reading. If it becomes law, that will not only provide legal backing for all those sexual deviants who demand access to the other sex bathrooms on the grounds that they are "trapped in the body of the wrong sex", but will also make it easier for them to aggressively push their agenda to children, as part of the school's "equity" and "inclusiveness" curriculum, (not to mention so called "sex education",) with anyone who disagrees likely to be charged with "hate speech".
Bill C-389 does not include a definition of “gender identity” or “gender expression”. My worry is that many aspects of gender identity issues contain a strong element of self-definition. Yes, one can choose a sexual orientation. This disordered choice is already being pushed in our public and Catholic schools. It's a form of verbal engineering. The standard diagnostic manual for psychiatrists, Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders – 4th Edition, lists gender identity questions as a disorder. This definition is not an opinion, but comes from the experts. The condition is very different from such objective states as race, color, creed or gender, all of which the law quite rightly protects from discrimination in the workplace, and in the provision of goods and services.
Fortunately, bill C-389 still has to go through the Senate. Not sure if we can look forward for it to be actually voted down. (In spite of the majority status, it's unlikely that the governing caucus dares to vote down yet another opposition bill that has been passed by the House of Commons; being scolded by the press and the opposition for voting down the Kyoto bill (C-311) is more than enough for them.)

But, at least they can stall the bill, the way they've stalled the anti-spanking bill (S-204) and the forced Supreme Court bilingualism bill (C-232). At least, the "progressives" no longer have the overwhelming majority they used to have 7 years ago when the ill-famous bill C-250 was rushed through the Senate. So there's still hope that sexual predators' dirty wishes won't receive legal backing from the Parliament.

1,000,000 Rosaries For Unborn Babies

Ready to accept the challenge?
On May 6th, 2011 a 3-day spiritual battle begins for an end to the surgical and non-surgical killing of unborn human persons. It is anticipated that people from various places throughout the world will be praying the Rosary for this intention. (Last year, people from more than 40 nations registered for the ONE MILLION ROSARIES FOR UNBORN BABIES, though the goal of one million Rosaries was not met.)
A rosary takes about 15-20 minutes. All that's needed is for ~110,000 people to dedicate an hour a day to pray for the unborn. And another thing: the National March for Life in Ottawa will take place less than a week later - on May 12, 2011. The theme for this year's March is abortion kills a human being.

Want To Be Unhappy? Act Like Liberals

John Hawkins gives us five reasons why Conservatives tend to be happier than Liberals:
Liberals spend a lot of time playing the victim and trying to come up with ways to get someone else to fix their lives. "Well, if the government forced some rich guy to give me more of his money, then all my problems would be solved! If our society could just make this change, then we could all dance in the moonlight with faeries and unicorns! If the government just added one more program, then we could teach the world to sing in perfect harmony, hold it in our arms, and keep it company!"

One of the biggest keys to happiness is accepting that if you want to be happy, you need to take personal responsibility for everything in your life so you can do something about it. On the other hand, you want to be unhappy? Act like liberals and expect other people to show up and fix your problems.
Truer words have never been spoken. Just look at all those professional victim groups that are stuck at the bottom despite all those aid agencies with their multi-billion-dollar budgets. Personal responsibility, family values and common sense - these are the keys to success and happiness.

French Riviera - Remember What It Used To Be Like?

Forget it!

Here's what Nice used to look like decades ago, when it was one of the most popular vacation spots for Europeans:

This is what it looks like now, when some multicultural folks, you know, the greatest promoters of peace and tolerance, celebrate their "holy month" in the city:
Thanks to multiculturalism, life in the city is certainly far less boring than it used to be, isn't it?

If Bell ExpressVu Drops EWTN...

...Maybe it's the time for concerned viewers to drop Bell ExpressVu?

The biggest problem, as I understand, is not the lack of other providers, (you can use this channel finder page to check what other providers offer EWTN in your area,) but that there are often long-term service contracts involved and the penalties are quite hefty. I wonder if it makes sense to consider a class action suit against Bell ExpressVU in such cases; after all, if they lure people into long-term contracts promising certain channels and then refuse to carry these channels - then it's nothing but a breach of promise.

Meanwhile - I'd suggest you check out the alternative providers. Some of them may have a nice promotion for those switching from Bell that may actually save you some money on the long run.

Freedom-Snatching Committees: Obey Or Lose Your House

That the so called "human rights" tribunal has ordered an employer to pay a whiny employee $36,000 in damages for mere hurt feelings is not surprising. (Neither is the fact that a complaint filed by an upset Muslim was apparently processed by another Muslim, who, for obvious reasons, could not be impartial in such a case.) What's most outrageous is that in their attempt to make an example of someone they consider to be an intolerant bigot, these "human rights" jackboots can easily go as far as seizing his personal assets including his home:
After HRTO adjudicator Faisal Bhabha ordered Telfer to pay for lost wages and general damages, lawyers with the Human Rights Legal Support Centre had obtained a “writ of seizure” ordering the sheriff to sell Telfer’s Mississauga home to enforce the payment.

“The only reason they backed off, is because we got this judicial review and we convinced them to wait until the hearing was over before they tried to seize their house and sell it with the sheriff,” said Telfer’s lawyer Ted Charney, according to the Star.
...
“Overturning the tribunal’s order isn’t enough. The tribunal itself should be disbanded,” Levant told LSN.
What he said.

Child Ostracized For Using Plastic Bag

The environazi-sozis don't yet have the magic button to blow up opponents. They can't hang them either. But they can indoctrinate schoolchildren, ostracizing those that are not "green" enough:
Marc-André Lanciault said he hadn’t heard of the school’s draw or any environmental policy until his wife, Isabel Théorêt, was making their son Félix a sandwich and he begged them not to put it in a plastic bag.

“He said, ‘No mommy, you can’t do that. Not a Ziploc,’” Mr. Lanciault said.

Through tears, the boy told his parents that the school had held a draw to win a stuffed teddy bear and only children who didn’t have any plastic sandwich bags could enter. The family normally uses Tupperware, but it was all in the dishwasher, and so they had packed their son’s ham sandwich in a plastic bag.

When Mr. Lanciault questioned his son’s teacher, she confirmed the school had staged the draw at a lunchtime daycare and that any student with a plastic sandwich bag was excluded. “You know Mr. Lanciault, it’s not very good for the environment,” the teacher told him. “We have to take care of the our planet and the bags do not decompose well.”
What's next? Grunenjugend volunteers raiding their parents' kitchen and destroying plastic bags and all other "environmentally harmful" utensils? Or maybe it wouldn't be just their parents' kitchens... After all, we already have neighborhood activists knocking on doors, bullying people who don't turn off the lights during the so called "earth hour" and similar events.
